The Companies Act 2006 has recently been updated, with reference to online advertising and e-communication.

New Companies Act 2006 Legislation, which came into force in January 2007, requires all companies in the UK to include certain regulatory information on their website and in e-mail correspondence to avoid being in breach of the Act.

The new requirements include:

"Every company must list it's company registration number, place of registration and registered office address on it's website as a result of an update to the legislation of 1985.

The information, which must be in legible characters, should also appear on order forms and in emails.

Such information is already required on 'business letters' but the duty is being extended to websites, order forms and electronic documents."
